Wk03 - Game Concept Design Treatment Final

Logo

So after thinking more or less on what my game would be about, I decided to do a combination of ideas/games. I had two games in mind, one being Skyrim and other being Witcher 2 (which I started playing last week). The game name would be "Eagle Eye", which came from the past nicknames I used to use in MMORPGs when I played with archers, gunslingers, snipers, and etc. The meaning for Eagle Eye is having a great vision, or in other words a perfect vision with precise accuracy. After some hours practicing on doing this logo in Photoshop, I decided to create an eye which would show the vision of the player and its precision/accuracy. The eye is the logo since it is the most impacting fact of the game, since this assassin is watching you every time and every where. I got an eagle eye image from the Internet and used it as a guide even though I started from scratch and changed most of the features. The writings are just ideas of what will be written on it, the fact that the game's name is "Eagle Eye" means that the font needs to be sharp and precise, that is why I used a "Eagle Eye" is sharp and accurate.

Characters

I used some of the characters/classes that I liked from the game Skyrim. I chose both 3D, 2D, and a more modern pixel art designs. I would clearly prefer the 3D features, but as a start I would consider making a prototype with a pixel art character. Those classes are just a few ideas of what the main character can look like. The character will be more of a stealth assassin without actually fighting face to face with 10 other soldiers like in Assassin's Creed (even though you can avoid those fights). There will be a single race, for example human and the player will create his own appearance, maybe there will be some updates of races in the next game (like they had in Diablo II Expansion), but for now as a first brainstorm there will be just one race.

Setting/Environment

I got the view of the game The Witcher 2, where there are still castles, kings, warriors, and peasant houses, meaning that the game set up to be in the 1200 A.D. As you can see its in the Byzantine Era, where War between kingdoms are occurring and the Fourth Crusade is sent off.  The player is a mercenary that is trying to help the city of Constantinople, capital of the Byzantine Empire, to fight the Fourth Crusade. The game is set to take place in Hungary, Bulgaria and if the right path is chosen in the French Empire. Those images show clearly which time the game takes place and also shows the architecture of that era in that specific location which in this case is the Byzantine Empire in Constantinople.

Gameplay

In the game the player is paid to kill as many crusaders as he can, while facing monsters and even bribes from the French Empire. The character is more of a stealth mercenary/assassin meaning he kills from far away or through stealth moves. For instance, when someone discovers him it'll be a great fight, but the point is to try killing the foes strategically without being seen/noticed. As shown in the middle image the player can decide to use throwing knives or a bow and arrow as a range weapon. Also if someone notices the player, we can see in the upper image that the player has the option of using an one-handed weapon, two-handed weapon or what I find being the best, the dual wielding weapons. As you can observe in the last image the character is meant to be a stealth assassin like stated before, and that is why the player can do various sneak attacks on his foes, which aren't just soldiers, but also monsters like trolls, wyverns, orcs and more. The game is not only to kill and defend the city, but also to strategically choose your path by killing or not the important people. The player gains experience with every kill he does and by doing sneak attacks and ranged "eagle eyed" shots he will gain more experience. The level points will be used to upgrade the character, for instance his accuracy with bow and arrow, or used to unlock new sneak attacks or abilities like slowing time to get a nice headshot. The last thing is the money, character will find money in chests, bodies and also the character is paid for important kills he is hired to do. This gold will help him refine his equipment, buy new/stronger ones and also buy potions, food, and more miscellaneous items. Those are some of the few things that Eagle Eye will offer the gamers. The brainstorm of Eagle Eye should already get some attention...

  1. Your concept is very detailed. I like how there are many many characters. Your logo also fits the style of your game. Because you have so many characters, is there anything specific about each one/ groups of them? Do you need to advance through the game in order to unlock more levels.

  2. really awesome job on this assignment. everything flows nicely together. my only comment is to start to develop some more consistent graphical elements across the images (besides the main content images) to enhance the look and feel of your game. great job overall.
